For the 2nd year going, I am donating my birthday to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties. I have been a proud member of BBBS MMC for almost 2 years. The time I have spent with my little brother Isaiah has been great - and to see Isaiah gain experience and grow is one of the great privileges in my life.
I have more than I need in life - so there's no need for gifts. I would rather funds go to an organization that can make positive change in people's lives. Last year, I was overwhelmed by the charity of friends & family, raising over $500 to buy backpacks for area kids. I was fortunate to also use the opportunity to show Isaiah the benefit of giving back to the community. He helped me pick out the coolest backpacks, and helped deliver them to the BBBS offices!
If you don't have money to give - it would mean even more to me if you became a mentor. BBBS has offices around the country that are always seeking mentors. Our society and our youth need strong mentors now more than ever. Giving your time and wisdom is just as valuable as money.
